COMMENCEMENT SET FOR MAY 23
	San Jose State University will salute the accomplishments of the class of 2009 at commencement exercises in Spartan Stadium on Saturday, May 23. SEE TUTANKHAMUN AND THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE PHAROHS
	Saturday, August 8, 8 a.m. The de Young Museum in San Francisco Purchase your tickets now - $39 per person. Take part in a private, docent-led tour of Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs before the exhibit opens to the public for the day’s viewing. Learn more.

SPARTANS ON THE MOVE: NEWS FROM ALUMNI

Marlene Bosanko, '85 MA English, was recognized with an honorary degree from Tacoma (Wash.) Community College where she was dean of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences for more than nine years. James McGrath, '94 Psychology, was granted tenure and promoted to Professor of Law at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. Constance B. Who wouldn't prefer the buzz of bumble bees around the sweet smell of cherry blossoms to the beep of the paper jam indicator on the office copy machine? SJSU administrator Stephen Branz and his colleagues regularly invite others to step away from their desks, dust off their hiking boots and GO! Get Outside, that is. SPARTAN SPORTS UPDATE

Academic Recognition: Four SJSU teams notched perfect scores, while football, men's basketball, men's golf and women's cross country earned their highest scores to date in the NCAA's Academic Progress Rate. All 16 teams scored higher than the benchmark of 925 out of 1,000. Women's Golf: Won the WAC title, both team and individual (Erica Moston). It's the third WAC title in school history! Baseball: With two weekends to play, the Spartans (32-16) are just one-half game out of first place and play the final five games of the regular season at home May 12-17. Football: Jarron Gilbert, Christopher Owens and Coye Francies were selected in the NFL draft, while assistant coach Ken Margerum was named to the College Football Hall of Fame
