Elaine Chin has been named dean of the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. Chin has been the college's associate dean for administrative affairs since July 2007. Previously, she was department chair and associate director for teacher education at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
William B. Maguire is San José State University's first vice president for information technology and chief information officer. Most recently, Maguire was vice president and CIO for Virgin America, where he was responsible for building out the new airline's entire IT infrastructure. |

Vance Hanna, '70 Interior Design, is Chairman of Art and Design at Lawrence Tech University, Southfield, MI. The new Automotive Transportation design program placed first out of 23 universities for the design of a hydrogen powered race cart.
Michael Poll, '95 MA Education, has been named vice president for enrollment management and marketing at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC.
Benjamin Hernandez, '09, woh the grand prize in Chicken of the Sea's Marketing Challenge on "The Apprentice." He entered a 90-second video in the viral campaign category and was flown to New York for the season finale of "The Celebrity Apprentice."

Baseball: Won the regular season WAC title and completed the season with 41 wins, tied for third-most in school history. Ryan Shopshire was named conference Pitcher of the Year while Sam Priaro won the Coach of the Year award for the second straight season.
Water Polo: Four Spartans, seniors Juliet Moss and Tanya Torres, junior Bridget McKee and sophomore Alyssa Friesen met the four criteria for Academic All-MPSF recognition.
